Q. How can Mileage Manager save me money?

A. It saves you money because it makes you manage a situation which can easily get out of control. What state would your finances be in if you only got a bank statement every three years? Luckily you get one every month, and this allows you balance your financial affairs.

Mileage Manager works in much the same way because it makes you conscious of how many miles you are doing, and how close you are to your monthly allowance. If you are straying over you can take action before things get out of hand. This website will provide you with some strategies to help you manage this.
It will also send you a reminder 5 weeks before the end of your lease end, acting on this reminder could save you thousands of pounds!

 

Q. How much does it cost?

A. Just £19.95 GBP. This is the price regardless of whether your lease is 3 years or 5 years, in fact, you can can sign-up for 3 years and if you decide to extend the period of your lease, you can can extend the period of the mileage manager too at no extra cost -- all you have to do is send us an e-mail and we will change this for you. You can sign-in at any time and change the rest of your details.

It costs just £19.95 GBP no matter what country you are in, so how much it will cost in your local currency will depend on exchange rates.

 

Q. Can I use it in any country?

A. Virtually anywhere in the world, we haven't had any problems so far! Even if the SMS messages won't work in a particular country, the Email messages will. But the SMS messages will work in the vast majority of countries and the list is growing all the time.

 

Q. What else does it do?

A. The mileage manager will also send you reminders about warranty, MOT and preparing your car for lease return.

IMPORTANT!

Oh yes, we know this service appeals because it helps you with your excess mileage problems, but the other reminders are just as important if you want to save money and avoid penalty recharges!

At 33 months you will get a reminder telling you that you have approx 3 months left on your manufacturer's warranty. This is a good time to book yourself in for an M.O.T. Safety test certificate, you can have can have it done early and the MOT will run for 12 months as usual. If they find anything wrong, there is a good chance it's covered under the warranty.
Now would also be a good time to sort out any other problems that are covered by the warranty, such as the electric windows, broken glove compartment latches, or wear holes in carpets (watch out for this on Peugeots!).

We will also send you reminders at 5 weeks and 3 weeks before your car is due for return, giving you time to either have the car inspected or inspect the car yourself and fix any damage which might incur a penalty for excess wear & tear.

Q. What happens if I forget my username and password?

A. Contact us by email...
For increased security, we don't have an automated system of password recovery. So if you lose your username or password, email us and we will reset your password, we may give you a ring before we send it to you. Because this is all done manually it may take a day or two (We can't be online 24 hrs a day!)

We suggest that you write down your username and password and keep them in a safe place with your vehicle documents.

 

Q. Why do I need Mileage manager to remind me
when I could just write this in my diary?

A. Of course you can set your diary up and write in the numbers every month for the next 3-5 years having calculated the mileage for each month, if you know that you will remember to check it every month. It is true that you could marry together the diary in Microsoft Outlook and calculate the mileage in spreadsheets -- but mileage manager is easy to use, easy to set up and we keep your account for you so you can't lose the whole package if your computer crashes.

 

Q. How reliable is this service - what guarantees do I have?

A. We have tested this service as thoroughly as we can and it is very reliable - although we can't test it over a period of years - instead we cheated by changing the dates on the server! But you know what technology is like! There are bound to be hiccups once in a while, but as unreliable as personal PCs are, our servers are state-of-the-art and downtime is virtually nonexistent because we can switch the whole site to another server at a moment's notice. And SMS messaging is as far as we can tell, one of the most reliable forms of modern communication, far more so than emails which can sometimes go astray.

We are confident that we are as reliable as any web based service, as mentioned hiccups do happen and for this reason we cannot offer refunds should you miss a message, but let us know about it as soon as you can and we will guarantee that we will get back to you with an explanation of the problem, what we are doing about it, and we absolutely guarantee that we will get the service running again as quickly as our geeks can possibly manage.

Q. What is an MOT?

A. The M.O.T. scheme was introduced in the UK in 1960 by the Ministry Of Transport to test vehicles to ensure that they comply with current legislation. Mostly this comes in the form of safety checks for road worthiness, but more recently also includes exhaust emissions. You are required to visit an approved M.O.T. testing station when your car is inspected, tested and issued with a certificate.

Although this is a UK scheme, most countries operate something very similar, so the Mileage Manager's MOT reminder service is still useful to people using this service outside the UK.

 

Q. I think this service is fantastic! Can I have something similar for my site?

A. We think this service is a fantastic idea too! We took this idea of a text messaging service to 2D Media who made the scripting that makes it work. It soon became apparent that it could be used for any number of other reminder services, for example, messaging out sales targets, diet targets, or maybe just a husband nagging service. The possibilities are endless.

 

However, we don't have time to put all the ideas that we have come up with into practice, but if you do, then why not contact 2D media? You can plug it straight into any existing PHP enabled site (if you are that way inclined) or for those less geeky, can be run as a ready made stand-alone website.
